Bellevue Elementary Building Support

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, January 20, 2014, The Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday is a National Day of Service, and a time to re-commit ourselves to serving each other and our communities. On MLK Day, Americans across the country will honor Dr. King by helping their neighbors and communities. This Day of Service is a way to transform Dr. King's life and teachings into community service that helps solve problems.

MLK Day programs meet tangible needs, but also build a sense of community and mutual responsibility by spurring conversation. On this day, Americans of every age and background celebrate Dr. King through volunteering and unite to strengthen communities, empower individuals, and bridge barriers.

Volunteers will be hanging acoustic wall panels and ceiling panels in the Bellevue Elementary School Cafeteria in an effort to reduce the noise level. The cafeteria is in the basement and the walls and ceiling are cement and brick so the noise during lunch time is unbearable.

Volunteers will apply Liquid Nails adhesive to ceiling panels (they are extremely light) and affix them to the ceiling.
Drill holes and insert anchors in cement/brick walls.
Screw clips into the walls in order to hang the wall tiles
Use a level and measuring tape to ensure drill holes align with the clips attached to the wall tiles.

Volunteers should wear work boots or sturdy shoes and clothing you do not mind getting dirty. You will be inside.
Street parking is available directly in front of the school.

The goal at Bellevue Elementary School is to provide the best education possible for your child.  We look forward to partnering with you to teach, not only academic content standards, but also the self-discipline and leadership skills necessary to be successful in the classroom and in the 21st Century.

All volunteers who plan to attend must be registered. This includes youth. If the post indicates adults must be present, youth and adults must register using the team functionality. To learn more about our team functionality, please view our Volunteer with a Group page.

If allowed on the project, any youth volunteers under the age of 18 must bring a parent-signed youth waiver to the project.
The waiver can be found after sign up on the confirmation page or by visiting our Volunteer with Youth page.
