Invasive Species Removal
The Friends of the James River Park is seeking volunteers to help remove invasive species (bush honeysuckle and English ivy) and plant native plants at Huguenot Flatwater. Volunteers will be using loppers, hand saws and shovels to remove invasives and will be hauling the cut brush out of the woods to be placed into piles for removal.
Volunteers should wear comfortable, warm clothing they do not ming getting dirty. Closed toe shoes are required. All materials needed for the project will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle and a snack.
The Friends of the James River Park is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization created by a dedicated group of citizens in 1999. Our mission is to provide an ongoing source of citizen support for the conservation, enhancement, and enjoyment of the 550-acre James River Park System and its natural and historic environments. http://www.jamesriverpark.org/be-a-friend/index.php
