Nighthawk Nighttime Aviary
The Richmond Wildlife Center is the first and only professional wildlife medical center in the Greater Richmond region providing veterinary and rehabilitative care to sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. A Common Nighthawk was admitted there after being hit by a city bus. Suffering head trauma, she lost her depth perception, rendering her non-releasable. The Nighthawk will be joining the RWC education team as an animal ambassador educating the public about her species. The Common Nighthawk is still listed as endangered in several states within the U.S. Volunteers will build a nighttime aviary for the nighthawk that will help address feather issues she is experiencing while indoors in captivity. This is a construction oriented project to include framing, predator proofing and building an enclosure.
Volunteers will:

Volunteers will:
- Perform extensive manual labor to include but not limited to digging, sawing, hammering, cutting, and all activities involved in physically building an outdoor cage
