Mental Health Awareness Ribbons

Beneficiary: NAMI Central Virginia

Impact: NAMI Central Virginia promotes recovery and seeks to improve the lives of Central Virginians with serious mental illness through education, support, resources, advocacy, and anti-stigma campaigns. Community education is a large part of their mission and to that end, NAMI CVA makes great use of awareness ribbons at public events. These ribbons provide the wearer an opportunity to show support to those in the community dealing with mental health challenges as well as a conversation starter if someone doesn’t recognize it. DIY volunteers will be crafting mental health awareness ribbons that will allow NAMI CVA to provide to their members, friends and allies in the community free of charge.

Supplies*:

  •         A minimum of 75 inches of lime green ribbon (patterns are ok!)
  •         3/4" flat-backed safey pins
  •         E6000 or QuickGrip Glue
  •         Clear school glue
  •         Scissors
  •         Toothpicks
