Citadel of Hope Mural Project
Art on Wheels is partnering with Better Housing Coalition and artist group “The Muralista’s” to revitalize the former Citadel of Hope building on Venable Street and the surrounding parcels of land which have been neglected for decades and a source of neighborhood blight. To honor the vibrancy of the neighborhood, we are creating a large-scale mural project on the building’s shuttered windows. The murals will reflect the character and vibe of Richmond City, Union Hill and Church Hill neighborhoods while depicting the factors that make a community a great place to live. They will beautify the building until its rehabilitation. Volunteers will help paint the murals. Parking is on the street. Wear clothes you can paint in. Bring water and smiling faces.
This opportunity is a referral and is managed by Art on Wheels directly. All volunteers who plan to attend must sign up. This includes youth.
