Helping Hands for Babies
The mission of Capital Diaper Bank is to build pathways out of poverty and homelessness, thereby improving individual lives and the community.
Capital Diaper Bank's mission is carried out through the following programs: The Diaper Bank provides diapers and other baby essentials to vulnerable infants, toddlers, and their families who are experiencing poverty, homelessness, major illness, and disasters. The Crisis Nursery offers a daily safe haven and healthy learning environment for homeless children. The Renewing Hope program provides in depth family support services. Urban Baby Beginnings is about empowering birthing families by providing them with the tools necessary to help them make informed decisions about their perinatal care, decrease preterm birth and cesarean rates, and initiate breastfeeding within our at risk communities.
Volunteers may do any of the following:
-Sort and organize donations (diapers, books, clothing, formula).
-Assemble baby safe sleeping boxes.
-Load vehicles and drive donated diapers from the warehouse to the sorting facility.
-Drive supplies to partner organization donation closets for use for their clients.
-Brainstorm and problem solve organizational dilemmas like marketing, fundraising, and strategic planning.
-Other tasks as needed--come prepared to be flexible.
Parking is in the lot next to the Church or on the street. See your My Account for detailed parking and location directions.
Registration for this project will close 12 hours in advance.
