VA 365 Food Backpack Distribution- Bellevue ES
Richmond Public Schools (RPS) is participating in VA 365 Project to End Childhood Hunger. Did you know that 1 in 6 kids in Virginia struggle with hunger? We need your support to help combat childhood hunger! Each Friday, children at designated RPS schools will receive a food backpack for the weekend. We need volunteer support organizing the backpacks, distributing the backpacks to each child, and then helping clean-up and break down boxes after all of the backpacks have been distributed. Volunteers should be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
Attire: Closed toed comfortable shoes (no heels), long pants and/or skirts and collared or buttoned down shirts. (All clothing should be comfortable and wearable to perform manual labor that may obtain dust or spills due to the handling of food products and boxes).
Parking: Street parking is available. In some cases, the school parking lot is also available.
RPS Volunteer Procedures: Please come to the front entrance of the school and push the door bell button to and state that you are volunteering at the school. Please report to the main office and state that you are a VA 365 Project Volunteer. Please provide a valid government issued id to be properly enrolled in the Raptor system. Please follow the Office Associate’s instructions on the process to reporting to the volunteer opportunity coordinator. After you have finished your volunteer assignment for the day, please return to the Main Office and sign out of the Raptor system.
All volunteers who plan to attend must be registered.
Registration for this project will close 24 hours in advance.
