Art Class Assistant, Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School
🎨 Art for the Journey is seeking volunteers to work with creative kids at Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School! AJCES is located in the North Church Hill area (East End) of Richmond. Volunteers join our Director of Youth Programs at school each Tuesday, and assist in preparing, instructing, and cleaning up after weekly art lessons with students in 3rd through 7th grade.
🤲 Volunteers at AJCES...
- Work 1-on-1 and 1-to-many with children, offering instructional and emotional support.
- Have a positive attitude, and are patient, adaptable, willing to learn, and ready to have fun!
- Do not need to be practicing artists! Some knowledge of art/making is helpful in assisting students with projects, but our lead art teachers will provide instructions and guidance to volunteers each week.
- Should be prepared to fill the same volunteer shift consistently (every week) throughout the semester.
🎨 Art for the Journey's mission is transforming lives through art and community. Our accessible, hands-on programs seek to promote well-being and healing in children and adults, with a special focus on those who otherwise do not have such opportunities available.
