Featured DIY - School Supply Drive




Organizational Beneficiary: Richmond Public Schools

Impact: Richmond Public Schools (RPS) serves over 23,000 students, representing the region’s diverse socioeconomic mix. It is comprised of 26 elementary schools, including one charter school, eight middle schools, five comprehensive high schools and three specialty schools. DIY Volunteers will be helping to stock the RPS Teacher Store, where donated school supplies are available for teachers to provide to those students who would otherwise go without. DIY volunteers will also craft motivational bookmarks to kick off the school year with inspiration.

Supplies*:

    Various School Supplies (see list provided in instructions below)
    Cardstock/construction paper
    Yarn/ribbon
    Markers, paint, stickers, etc.
    Hole Punch

 
How To:

1. Sign up for the project by clicking the button below. Every person who plans to volunteer (including youth) must sign up. You can create a volunteer team to sign up your group or family members. Read about how to create and manage teams.  

2. Review the instructions and supply list. 

3. DIY! We ask that you create 5 bookmarks and donate 10 school supplies. There is no maximum contribution for this project, but we will not be able to document more than 3 service hours for any DIY project.

4. Bring your completed DIY to the HandsOn office. Our office is open Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8:30 am - 5 pm and Friday between the hours of 8:30 am - 12 pm. Confirmed participants will receive 3 hours for submitting materials prior to 5pm, Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Bring your completed DIY Report Form when you drop off your DIY.
