Global Youth Service Day
Global Youth Service Day (April 11-13, 2014) recognizes the positive impact that young people have to their communities year-round. Held each year in April, Global Youth Service Day is a time when millions of young people come together for celebrations and community service projects, often designed to address and raise awareness around tough community issues. With GYSD projects in all 50 states, more than 100 countries, and six continents, GYSD is the largest service event in the world. GYSD is a campaign of YSA (Youth Service America), an international leader in the youth service movement.
HandsOn will be partnering with several local organizations to plan and promote volunteer opportunities for youth to give back across the Richmond region.
Hanover County Department of Community Resources and HandsOn Greater Richmond are teaming up this spring to mobilize thousands of youth to “blitz” the Hanover region with volunteer activities you can do from home leading up to OR on the weekend of Global Youth Service Day. HandsOn is hosting registration for these opportunities.
