Seeking Assistance with Prekindergarten Applications
The mission of Chesterfield County Public Schools Prekindergarten is to offer opportunities for low income families to have access to a high quality PreK program before their children enter kindergarten. Unfortunately, there are limited spots for many families who want to apply and we have large numbers of families who attend our events. Volunteers will be at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds assisting with application events and serving in various capacities. Some of the areas of need include greeting families, showing families how to navigate the application process, serving as a runner between application stations, playing with the children in the toy area, and working at application tables for additional assistance as needed. Volunteers will be trained for each station in which they are working. We are looking for people who love to help others and are flexible with how they can help as needs may change during our very busy events. Volunteers will fulfill an invaluable role as they will help the process go more smoothly and move more quickly for our families. Without additional help, families may be on site for extended amounts of time and many of them are missing time at their jobs to be present at the event. Plenty of parking is available on site. Volunteers should park in the paved lot behind the chain link fence. A sign will be posted. Dress comfortably with very comfortable walking shoes. Snacks and water will be provided. There is very little time for lunch as the pace of our events can be extremely busy. Volunteers are certainly welcome to take breaks to eat, however. We greatly appreciate any help that can be offered.
