RiverWise Assessments

The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is dedicated to leading, supporting, and inspiring local action to restore and protect the lands, rivers and streams of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

RiverWise is an Alliance program dedicated to reducing stormwater runoff in the greater Richmond region though individualized property assessments.  RiverWise aims to educate and motivate people on steps they can take to reduce the impact their yards and houses have on local waterways and ultimately, the Chesapeake Bay.

The RiverWise team is looking for people who want to help protect the James River and Chesapeake Bay by performing stormwater assessments. Stormwater assessments will be performed by two people, including a trained Alliance staff member. Volunteers will be trained to perform assessments. Prior knowledge is not required. The time commitment for each volunteer is 1 assessment per month (~1 hour each) and flexible.

Volunteers do not need to bring anything to the assessments. Volunteers will be performing assessments outside and should dress appropriately for all weather conditions.
