Preschool Aide
Fulton Montessori School (FMS) is a 501(c)3 preschool located in Fulton. FMS uses a sliding scale tuition to ensure we are providing a high quality Montessori education for any family regardless of financial means. FMS is looking for volunteers to engage children with age-appropriate activities to help them build social and academic skills. Children are ages 2.5 - 6 and can attend the school from 8 am - 6 pm. FMS is looking for volunteers to work with our children Monday - Friday from 4 pm - 6 pm. Our address is 1637 Williamsburg Rd, Richmond, VA 23231.
Impacts and Outcomes:
This is a hands-on opportunity that allows volunteers to engage with children and help them build social and academic skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrive no later than 3:45 to meet with the Director to discuss outcomes for the afternoon.
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, loving and nurturing environment for all children.
- Meet the individual needs of the children.
- Work with a small group of children to engage in age appropriate activities.
- Debrief with staff at end of shift regarding observations.
Commitment:
- Due to the training requirements set forth by the Department of Social Services, we are looking for volunteers who can make a long-term commitment.
- Volunteers may commit to one or more nights per week.
- Time commitment each week is from 3:45 p.m. until approximately 6:00 p.m.
- We would prefer volunteers who can commit to at least 3 months.
Training and Support:
- Orientation will be provided.
- A Fulton Montessori staff member will be on site at all times.
Qualifications:
- Volunteers must have a caring attitude and the ability to work patiently with a small group of children.
- Volunteers must pass a background check.
- Volunteers must have evidence of a reent negative TB test or be willing to have a TB test done prior to working with children.
