Richmond Community ToolBank Mural

The Richmond Community ToolBank is a nonprofit tool lending program that provides fellow not-for-profit organizations with year-round access to an inventory of tools for use in volunteer projects and for facility and grounds maintenance. We provide tools to enhance the charitable sector’s capacity to serve, facilitating hands-on volunteerism in the greater Richmond area.

The Richmond ToolBank maintains an 10,000 sq ft warehouse in Scott’s Addition and an inventory comprised of more than 200 different types of tools and equipment in volumes large enough to equip thousands of volunteers at a time. Access to ToolBank tools eliminates the need for agencies to incur the expense of purchasing, repairing, and storing tools, reducing the costs associated with service projects and allowing these agencies to focus more of their resources on their mission.

Throughout the year, we equip over 20,000 volunteers with the tools and equipment needed for the projects taking place around Metro-Richmond. Not only are we loaning tools out, but we are also hosting community events to bolster nonprofit and corporate partnerships, providing corporate team building activities through our Investing in Our Community Build program, providing tool training workshops, and hosting fundraisers all in this 10,000 sqare foot warehouse. In order to create a more warm and welcoming place for all the people we encounter and the events we host, we would like to spruce up the warehouse and make it feel less like a "warehouse".

In order to transform the aesthetics of the warehouse, we would like to add a mural to this dull wall as you walk into the warehouse (pictured below).

If you are interested in volunteering, we could use your help to transform this wall into a beautiful mural that encompasses the ToolBank mission and value of love, inclusion, and compassion for the community. As a mural volunteer, you will be working alongside Nico Cathcart, a local muralist who does amazing work throughout the city and beyond, to prep, prime, and paint this wall into a wonderful masterpiece.   Over a two day period, we will work together to complete the transformation process.  transform this space into an inviting, welcoming center.
