HandsOn Volunteer Leader

POSITION: HandsOn Volunteer Leader

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
HandsOn Greater Richmond develops and manages ongoing volunteer projects with our agency partners. The Volunteer Leader (VL) is the liaison between the agency, HandsOn, and the team of volunteers at each project. They welcome volunteers, help manage the project, and set the tone.

The VL helps with agency communication, volunteer sign-ups, project management, attendance, and follow-up. As our strongest link to the community, Volunteer Leaders help to ensure that every volunteer has a positive experience and that the needs of the agencies are being met.

Volunteer Leaders are expected to:
Commit to the agency for the length of the project. Projects exist in various lengths within a 1 year term so you can find one that works for you!
Communicate with both volunteers and the agency contact before and after each project
Collect and return all youth volunteer waivers and attendance sign-in sheets
Oversee the volunteers at the project, and provide an ending reflection activity
Stay in regular contact with the HandsOn staff and up-to-date on VL procedures and projects
Commit to a one year volunteer leader term beginning on the date of training
Participate in year round social and professional development programming and activities

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Are committed to our mission and agree to be ambassadors for HandsOn Greater Richmond
Have previous experience with volunteering
Have attended at least 2 HandsOn Managed Projects as a volunteer
Able to communicate effectively and possess good interpersonal skills
Are resourceful and have a positive attitude
Have regular access to the Internet
Are 18 years of age or older and pass an annual criminal background check
