Featured DIY - Kits for Public Schools

Tools for Schools:  Helping Kids One Kit at a Time.
Benefitting: Richmond Public Schools and Chesterfield County Public Schools

 

DIY Volunteering allows families and groups of all ages and sizes to participate in community service from the comfort of their own homes. Volunteers purchase supplies and complete the kits in their own space then drop off completed projects at the designated days/times below.  Read more about our DIY initiative.

Richmond Public Schools (RPS) serves over 23,000 students, representing the region’s diverse socioeconomic mix. It is comprised of 26 elementary schools, including one charter school, eight middle schools, five comprehensive high schools and three specialty schools. 

Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS) serves over 58,000 students across 62 schools with approximately 24,000 students who qualify for free and reduced lunch, one of the most common measures of poverty.  Communities In Schools of Chesterfield serves over 8,900 students across nine schools including four elementary, two middle, and three high schools.  Through our school based site coordinators, Communities In Schools of Chesterfield works to ensure our most-in-need students have the tools and resources to be successful.  

Richmond Public and Chesterfield County Schools have a continuous need for the following kits.  Click the link to learn about each need and what is required for each kit.  

Volunteers can choose which kit they would like to complete.  Confirmed participants will receive 3 hours for submitting completed project.  Volunteers are welcome to complete as many kits as they would like, but only 3 community service hours will be given per volunteer.

School Supplies - Volunteers will purchase school supplies from a list and make inspirational bookmarks.

Snack Bags - Volunteers will purchase snacks from a list and make inspirational notecards for students.  PLEASE NO FOODS WITH PEANUTS.
