Assist adults with disabilities in recreational activities (Ashland, VA)
Seeking caring, patient and enthusiastic volunteers for Hanover County Parks and Recreation activities for adults with disabilities or special needs including autism, intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, epilepsy and more.
Volunteers needed to help lead participants in activities such as exercises, games, music and movement, service projects, crafts and more. If you have a particular skill or experience that you would like to share, we'd love to hear about it too!
Typically there are about 10-15 adults with disabilities along with their caregivers in attendance.
Volunteers needed to assist with activities. We are also seeking speakers or leaders who can share their experience or a particular activity. Topics have included: leading us in a yoga session, showing us photos or souvenirs from an exciting trip; teaching us some basic words in a foreign language, leading us in some drills of a sporting activity, etc.
Parking is on the campus of Randolph Macon College. Street parking or select parking lots near Duncan Memorial Church. See https://www.rmc.edu/visitrmc/campus-map for specific locations.
Dress is casual.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:17+
