Wheelchair Team for Henrico Vaccine Event
When you are volunteering, please follow these tips for healthy volunteering. HandsOn Greater Richmond emphasizes the importance of wearing a mask, social distancing, and not volunteering if you don't feel well.
Henrico County is managing the vaccination clinic at the Richmond International Raceway.
The wheelchair team helps patients with mobility challenges get through the venue by pushing them in a provided wheelchair. When the golf cart team assists someone from the parking lot to the door of the venue, the wheelchair team picks them up just outside the door and helps them through the indoor venue and ultimately out the exit door to the waiting area for golf cart transport back to their cars.
Good to Know:
The majority of this assignment is indoors with a very short time outside when retrieving and returning the patient to the golf cart teams.
As a volunteer, you will be interacting with folks coming to get a vaccine.
Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Volunteers should enter the Raceway complex through Gate 4. You will be directed to park in the staff parking lot at the Old Dominion Building where you will check-in for your volunteer shift.
Volunteers will NOT receive a COVID-19 vaccine
Volunteers can stay longer than their assigned shift.
