Circle Ally
Become an Ally with Circles Ashland and be a part of a relationship-based, community-driven solution to end poverty in our area. Allies are volunteers who form intentional friendships with Circle Leaders (our participants) working to achieve self-reliance and to move out of poverty.
Allies commit to: ~ 4-10 hours per month cultivating relationship with Circle Leader ~ Complete Ally training and pass background check ~ Attend at least two meetings per month on Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.—currently we are meeting virtually.
Allies have: ~ Good listening skills and empathy ~ Work experience and willingness to share networks and career exploration tips ~ Insight to applying for higher education ~ Knowledge of financial goal setting and solutions The role of an Ally is to be an intentional friend. Circle Leaders are more successful when they have someone in their lives to provide emotional support and empowerment. Like any friendship, it requires nurturing through regular meetings. Allies should be willing to share life experience, and work in partnership with Leaders to action-plan around goals. Potential allies will fill out an application, attend an orientation, complete a background check, and attend ally training. For a glimpse of what being an ally means, visit our facebook page.
