Sails Angels is all about small boats on the James River. At any given time, during
the warmer weather, we have half a dozen uniquely rigged aluminum canoes at the waters edge, ready for outings on the James. Here's a visual.

Our outings (both half day and full day) consist of as few as 2 and at most 12 participants. Our boats can be sailed, paddled, rowed, towed or run on solar charged battery with trolling motor. It all depends on the unique needs of the participants, the tides, and the weather. Our participants include the handicapped, the disadvantaged, at risk urban youth, and any one who would benefit from a day on the river. Everyone is welcome! In 2014 we had over 200 outing participants from our launchway, which is located on a sheltered lagoon near Dutch Gap 15 miles from downtown Richmond.

We need volunteers to prepare for and join us on outings, help clean and stow the gear after the outings, help maintain the launchway and keep the boats ready for action and safe from severe weather. Trained volunteers will have personal use of the launchway and boats.
