Outdoor Group Projects at Maymont
It takes a lot of work to keep up with Maymont's 100 acres of gardens, grounds, and exhibits, but the rewards are well woth it. Many thousands of guests each year find their own space for beautiful photos and memorable experiences. Whether you're an expert gardener, or looking for something new to fill your time, you will find a meaningful role with Maymont's horticulture team. Tasks and projects vary thoughout the year, including weeding, invasive plant removal, mulching, planting, raking, and pond and trail maintenance. No training or experience necessary- we learn and teach as we go.
Volunteer projects are outdoors and physical in nature, and may involve standing for 3 hours, walking long distances, using basic gardening tools, working in full-sun, and working on slopes, Volunteers should wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and clothes they don't mind getting dirty. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a reusable waterbottle, face covering, and gloves. Please ask about our COVID-19 safety measures, including disinfecting tools and distancing volunteers.
