What’s a kit assembly event? Volunteers will gather outside in the SOAR365 parking lot to put together 300 Holiday Party in a Bag kits that will be distributed to SOAR365 clients. (If it is cold, we will work inside observing CDC social distancing guidelines.) It will be easy, fun, and CDC safe! This is a great opportunity for families and small groups!
What will go into the kit? The Holiday Party in a Bag kit will contain items such as snacks, holiday greeting cards, ornaments, art supplies, and parent gifts that will bring holiday joy to the families served by our Pediatric Therapy program. All items have already been purchased and tables will be set up to streamline the assembly process! Volunteers just need to bring their hands and hearts for a morning of joyful service!
Who will benefit from this kit? At SOAR365, more than 600 babies and children are enrolled annually in our Pediatric Therapy Program which provides early intervention services for children under age three as well as outpatient therapy for children from birth through school age. At least 50% of our families meet federal poverty guidelines and 20% speak English as a second language. Each year, SOAR365 hosts a Holiday Party that provides our families with the opportunity to socialize, enjoy healthy refreshments, engage in child-friendly craft activities, and take a photo with Santa. Each child also receives a new developmentally appropriate book to promote at-home reading and interaction between parent and child. Due to the pandemic, programming transitioned to telehealth services on March 16 and the annual holiday party has been cancelled. These kits are designed to capture a bit of the Holiday Party magic in a bag!
