Community-Based Engagement Support: Southside
To ensure that all Richmond Public Schools students and families remain informed about our Reopening with Love plan and all other relevant information, teams of RPS staff and volunteers will lead Community-Based Engagement Events to meet families directly where they are in the community - we are seeking volunteers to join these activities which range from a stationary pop-up event at a strategic location to a community walk to spread the word about something. Specifically, volunteers will support RPS staff in various regions of the city by:

Ensuring that all families’ voices are heard in the determination of how we conduct classes in the spring semester (virtual, in-person, or hybrid).

Sharing RPS information regarding the RPS ReopeningWithLove Campaign and other RPS opportunities.

Engaging all families and other stakeholders with empathy and respect.
The safety of our volunteers, students, families, and staff is our top priority, so social distancing guidelines must be followed and masks must be worn at all times. In an effort to follow social distancing recommendations from the CDC and local health officials, we ask that only those who have signed up show up to volunteer, and that you please only sign up to volunteer if you meet the following conditions:

You understand that RPS staff may ask you to leave the volunteer project if you show signs of illness or tasks for the day have been completed.

You do not shake hands or have physical contact with anyone while participating in a volunteer project.

You are at least 18 years of age.

You are NOT part of a high-risk group for developing critical conditions.

You feel healthy and have not been exposed to anyone who may have contracted COVID-19 - see here for more details from the CDC.

You have not recently traveled abroad or to any highly impacted part of the United States.
