Meal delivery for school families
When you are volunteering, please follow these tips for healthy volunteering. HandsOn Greater Richmond emphasizes the importance of wearing a mask, social distancing, and not volunteering if you don't feel well.
While our school remains closed for in-school instruction and our students are learning remotely, we need volunteers to help deliver meals to our students. Locations are spread throughout the greater Richmond area, and deliveries take volunteers from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on how many stops they are given (which depends on how many volunteers we have on a given day).
Volunteers need to plan on coming to our school between 8:30am and 10am and then making the deliveries by 12noon. We ask that you ring the bell/knock on the door for each student and make sure someone receives the meals, but the experience is otherwise non-interactive (i.e., without contact). TIP: Volunteers who have helped in the past have enjoyed bringing a friend along and said that doing so helps with navigation.
This program will end once our students return to school, but plenty of other volunteer opportunities will remain. Please email Angie Heyming to inquire about other ways you can help.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 1+, Minimum Age:18+
