Brief Organizational Description:
Want to be a part of a growing Farmers Market Team, AND Make a difference in your community?
Broad Rock Farmers Market is open each 1st and 3rd Saturday starting August 6th and will run until October 29th, 2022. Our mission is to provide healthy fresh vegetables, fruits, baked goods, herbs, jams and jellies to a multi-cultrual, underserved community in the Southside of Richmond.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers are needed to provide support for the market's weekly operation. Customer service support, bi-lingual support and more. Without volunteers we can not offer the community a successful market event.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
We need volunteers to help with set-up and break down of market, work registration/information table, data trackers, parking support, and assist vendors when needed, and various other task for the market.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Have the ability to take direction and follow instructions. Must be a "People" person, customer service skills, bi-lingual a plus, must be able to lift 40 lbs. and be on their feet for long periods of time (5 hrs.). Knowledge of gardening and/or knowledge of fruits and vegetables and able to identify them if asked.
Time Commitment:
NOTE: Volunteers MUST be willing to stay for the duration of the market day. Volunteers hours are 7 AM (set-up) til 1 PM (breakdown at 12 noon) each 1st and 3rd Saturday August 6th - Oct. 29th. Sign-up for as many Saturdays as you would like.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteer hours will be verified (eg, attendance marked in system or need to bring a volunteer log). If you have a form to be signed, inform the Market Manager when you arrive. SORRY, WE CANNOT ACCEPT COURT ORDERED VOLUNTEERS.
- Recommended attire: comfortable clothing and snickers.
- Lots of parking is on-site.
- Volunteers need to bring water and/or snacks. Water and snacks may be available but not guaranteed.
- Students this is a great opportunity to obtain your volunteer hours for school projects while learning other skills.
