SPARC Clean-Up Day!

When you are volunteering, please follow these tips for healthy volunteering. HandsOn Greater Richmond emphasizes the importance of following CDC guidance.

SPARC's mission is to profoundly influence young people's lives through exceptional performing arts education. SPARC serves over 1000 youth in our community every year through several programs.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

SPARC Clean-Up Day is a day of re-organization, building beautification, and more. We’ll be splitting into teams to improve all spaces in the main building, storage building, and outdoors. By cleaning and re-organizing spaces, we're ensuring our community of young artists has ideal learning environments for the coming year!

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside SPARC staff on teams to:
    • clean up studio spaces, storage spaces, and outdoor spaces
    • beautify indoor and outdoor spaces
    • re-organize indoor and outdoor spaces, as necessary

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

Some volunteers can opt-in to using power tools. If volunteering to use power tools, please have prior experience and bring safety gear (SPARC has safety gear, but bringing your own will ensure that volunteers who do not have their own have access to SPARC's gear). There's no need to bring your own power tools.

Time Commitment:
2:00-6:00pm

Other Information:

  • Volunteers hours will be verified in the HandsOn system, but feel free to bring your own volunteer paperwork, if necessary!
  • Staff will provide directions to teams on the day
  • Wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes
  • Ample parking is available at SPARC
  • Bring a mask and water bottle; you will be able to re-fill your water bottle with awesome filtered water at SPARC
  • Expect an email from SPARC's Production Manager, Amy Almond, before October 22nd with any last minute details!
  • Youth volunteers over the age of 12 are welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult who stays at SPARC while they volunteer
  • Please email Maura Sinnenberg, msinnenberg@sparcrichmond.org, with any access needs you have by October 10th. For example, "I need ASL interpretation for the volunteer day," is a great access need to share!
