The City of Richmond Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities maintains Bryan Park. On the National Register of Historic Places, the park was the site of a planned slavery insurrection known as Gabriel's Rebellion.

Volunteers are crucial to help provide clean and maintained grounds and protect the watershed for the public to enjoy. HandsOn Day will be a big cleanup of the little things that tend to cluster and ruin public enjoyment of these natural treasures.

Volunteers will:
  • pick up paper, cigarette butts, bottle caps, and other litter from grounds and around watershed
  • remove overgrowth along wall of creek
  • mulch trees in memorial garden
  • remove leaves along chain link fence
  • other tasks as needed
Wear clothes appropriate for the outdoors. Volunteers iwll meet at Shelter 1. This project will BE CANCELLED in the event of heavy rain. Volunteers will be notified of the cancellation by 12 noon on Friday, October 19, 2012.
