Opportunity Details

In Where the Bears Are

Maymont preserves and celebrates its well-loved green space as a museum and park for the pleasure and education of everyone. Volunteers will get in the bear habitat to help clear overgrown vegetation in order to support our wildlife and grounds-keeping staff, which in turn makes the park more welcoming and enjoyable to our guests. (Don't worry, the bears won't be in there--we think!)

Volunteers will:
  • Prune and remove overgrown vegetation in the bear habitat
Wear closed toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty and is suitable for work outside. Park and meet at the Children's Barn entrance to Maymont (not the main entrance).

This project will be cancelled in the event of rain. We will communicate the cancellation decision with you in advance.

All volunteers who plan to attend must be registered, either as an individual, or via the team functionality. This includes youth. To learn more about our Team Functionality, please view our Volunteer with a Group page.

If allowed on the project, any youth volunteers under the age of 18 must bring a parent-signed youth waiver to the project.
The waiver can be found after sign up on the confirmation page or by visiting our Volunteer with Youth page.
The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
