Mural Support at RVA Street Art Fest

The RVA Street Art Festival will return this Fall with the goal of revitalizing the former GRTC property at Cary and Robinson Streets through public art, mural sessions, sculpture, and community involvement. Dozens of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists will join with local talent to create murals on the
trolley barns and walls, create sculpture using materials on site, and focus on expanding the conversation about transportation options and potential in Richmond.

The festival runs from Wed Sept 11 through Sun Sept 15, with the majority happening over the weekend. The goal is to show the creative power of street art, liven up an abandoned building structure, and attract people and tourists to this outdoor art gallery while sparking creative discussions about transportation and use. The festival benefits Art 180 and Richmond Young Writers. Read more at https://www.facebook.com/RvaStreetArtFestival

Volunteers are needed Friday the 13 to assist with a specific mural and a group of corporate volunteers, as well as put finishing touches on the educational bike course created by Ride Richmond. Tasks may include running supplies, prepping walls with paint, scraping peeling paint, directing folks, and more. This is a unique chance to be a part of this community-wide event.

Parking is on the street and is VERY limited and so we strongly encourage carpooling, biking, or public transit.

Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a bit of paint on. Enter at Robinson Street and look for the HandsOn Flag to check in.

All volunteers who plan to attend must be registered, either as an individual, or via the team functionality. This includes youth.  To learn more about our Team Functionality, please view our Volunteer with a Group page.

If allowed on the project, any youth volunteers under the age of 18 must bring a parent-signed youth waiver to the project.
The waiver can be found after sign up on the confirmation page or by visiting our Volunteer with Youth page.

Registration for this project will close 12 hours in advance.
