Partner Onboarding & Referral Training

2018 - 2019 Onboarding Training Dates Update!

As announced earlier this year, the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond is moving its office to Scott's Addition. Effective Monday, November 26, our new address will be 3409 W. Moore Street, Richmond 23230. Our phone number will remain the same at (804) 330-7400.
 
During the transition from November 21-25, phones and servers will be down, causing brief delays in response time and staff accessibility. You are welcome to email us, as email service will be unaffected. Individual contact information is available on our website staff page.
 
We anticipate that all systems will be back up and running on Monday, November 26th. Thank you for your patience. We look forward to serving you from our new location very soon!

During this time we will not hold trainings in-person during this trainistion until after December 2018.  Please check back to our website for 2019 trianing dates in mid-December.  If you need to post volunteer opprotunities during our tranistion,  please contact Stephanie Glenn at sglenn@cfrichmond.org for training alternatives.

Nonprofits, schools and community organizations who are partners with HandsOn can post their volunteer needs directly to our site to recruit for volunteers. These are called Referrals. You can post one-time, ongoing, general, or skill-based needs. We made over 9400 volunteer referrals to our community partners last year!

We'll discuss the volunteer management best practices and you'll learn how to post your needs and use the site's tools to communicate with and manage volunteers and hours.

Any individual staff person who plans to post with us will need to learn how to use our system. You should have a strong understanding of basic computer, software and technology. You will be able to create and edit projects, communicate with & manage volunteers, attendance, and hours, and more. Postings for date/time specific events are typically done 4 weeks in advance, to allow time for corrections and approvals, time for you to coordinate with the volunteer, and so volunteers have enough time to view them on the site.

Bring your project ideas ready to post. A laptop is required (tablets are okay but not  ideal). We have 4 laptops to lend--let us know if you need to borrow one. We need at least 4 attendees to hold the training. Only the individual who has registered will have the access needed to attend the training and post.

Be sure to read our "
I Need Volunteers" section to determine if your organization is a registered partner of ours. If not, register it there. When you register your org the first time, it will also create an individual volunteer account for yourself.

If your organization exists, but you do not already have an individual volunteer account with our site, please create one using your work information (be sure to include your place of employment) on our
Register page. Then use that account to sign up for this training.

Once each individual signs up for this training, we will grant your account partner portal access which you will need for the training. Be on the lookout for an email from us shortly before training with your new login information.

Registration will close 24 hours in advance.
