Virginia Food Access Network Day of Action
Tricycle is Richmond’s leading urban agriculture nonprofit organization, and they are on a mission to grow a healthy future through urban agriculture. Community organizations, public agencies, and volunteers all play an important role in our efforts to increase access to healthy foods and promote healthy communities. Join Tricycle during the VFAN (Virginia Food Access Network) Day of Action on September 29, 2017 to help bridge the nutritional divide in Virginia among hundreds of other organizations. Join us on RVA’s Urban Farm for a number of farm tasks such as weeding, planting, harvesting, mulching, and composting. The overall goals of the VFAN Day of Action are to: - Raise awareness of organizations in Virginia working to increase food access in an effort to improve nutrition and end hunger. - Encourage Virginians to get involved in the fight against hunger by facilitating volunteer opportunities with these organizations across the Commonwealth. Please dress appropriately for work outside and bring water with you, as we have no potable water on site. We recommend sturdy shoes, long sleeves and pants (even in the heat of summer) for protection from bugs and the natural abrasions of farm work. We are outside rain or shine, but will cancel in case of heavy storms.
