Opportunity Details

Fall Farm Help

We need help with seasonal farm work. Our organizational mission is to improve access to healthy foods in Richmond, and volunteer farm help is essential to meeting that mission. Without volunteers, we would not be able to provide the same quantity and quality of produce, and we would not be able to maintain our 8 acre farm, which has become a site for hands-on learning experiences, food justice education, and re-connection with the outdoors.

Volunteer Tasks:
might include harvesting, washing and packing produce, weeding and hoeing, and cleaning out fields to rest for the winter.

Volunteers should bring their own water, and if working outside: sunscreen and bug spray. Wear sturdy shoes and comfortable, weather appropriate clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Carpooling is encouraged. Port a potties and handwashing sinks are on site, along with first aid.

This project will still occur if there is rain. The rain plan will differ somewhat from the original tasks.

This project is a part of our regional day of service, Give a Day RVA.  Registration will close 24 hours in advance.
