Virginia Credit Union Paint RVA 2017

Virginia Credit Union invites its members to join in painting a mural collaborated on by RVA Artist Hamilton Glass and female high school students from Girls For A Change. The mural will take place in Richmond’s historic Jackson Ward. The project is conducted alongside the members of Girls for A Change, a local non-profit whose mission is to support and inspire Black girls and other girls of color to visualize their bright futures and potential through discovery, development and social change in their communities.

In addition to painting the mural, Volunteers may assemble and decorate snack bags that will be used in the after school programs offered by Girls For A Change.

Volunteers should dress for comfort and safety. Wear close-toed shoes and appropriate clothing for painting. Sunscreen and bug spray will be on hand. Snacks and water will be provided. Port-O-Johns will be on site. Please check in under the tent located in the parking lot on the corner of 1st and Marshall St. upon arrival.

Virginia Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative that helps members live more confidently by showing them how to gain control over every aspect of their financial world.

About the Artist
Hamilton Glass is an artist native to Philadelphia, PA, and now based in Richmond. He is an artist in the U.N.I.T.Y. Street Project, a team of Richmond artists who pay tribute to the community and its historical legacy through mural arts. The murals serve the communities in which the art is designed to live. The murals enrich the properties and the neighborhood and provide a deterrent to graffiti. U.N.I.T.Y. is an acronym for U: Upholding, N: networking and I: inspiring T: togetherness in celebration of Y: yesterday. To find out more about the artist, click here.

All volunteers who plan to attend must be registered. This includes youth. If the post indicates an adult must be present, youth and adults must register using the team functionality. To learn more about our team functionality, please view our Volunteer with a Group page.
