Community Partnership Driver
Looking to volunteer with a schedule that fits your hectic lifestyle? CARITAS needs a volunteer to donate their time transporting used linens that are not suitable to give to our clients, to three local animal shelters/zoos. They are the Richmond SPCA at 2519 Hermitage Rd, Richmond Animal Care and Control at 1600 Chamberlayne Ave, and the Metro Richmond Zoo at 8300 Beaver Bridge Rd. By donating blankets and linens we can't use, we are able to support other organizations in our community while reducing our amount of waste.
Each of our three partners will accept one bag of linens per week, and you are able to break up the deliveries however you would like. Whether that is making one delivery a day for three days, or completing all three deliveries in one day, as long as each shelter/zoo gets their one bag a week, we are happy! All you have to do is come to our furniture bank location on Commerce Road, where the items will be bagged and ready to be delivered. We are looking for a volunteer committed to delivering the linens to each shelter/zoo EACH WEEK.
CARITAS is the only Furniture Bank in Central VA, recycling donated furniture back to those in need right here in our community. Paying rent is not the only obstacle to securing permanent housing. The cost of furnishings can cripple a family on the brink of homelessness and threaten its ability to remain self-sufficient. Your help will make it possible for a wide range of clients to receive these household items, including women escaping domestic violence, elderly persons on limited incomes, refugee families from all over the world, and the working poor.
