Beautification Day at Swansboro Elementary School

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, January 20, 2014, The Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday is a National Day of Service, and a time to re-commit ourselves to serving each other and our communities. On MLK Day, Americans across the country will honor Dr. King by helping their neighbors and communities. This Day of Service is a way to transform Dr. King's life and teachings into community service that helps solve problems.

MLK Day programs meet tangible needs, but also build a sense of community and mutual responsibility by spurring conversation. On this day, Americans of every age and background celebrate Dr. King through volunteering and unite to strengthen communities, empower individuals, and bridge barriers.

Volunteers will help with various service projects to help beautify the Swansboro School community.  This project serves as an activity to provide mentor and mentee matches to participate together in service opportunities on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Volunteers should wear casual clothing that they don't mind getting dirty with paint or soil.
Street parking and parking lots are available for volunteer parking.

Swansboro Elementary School is dedicated to using opportunities to learn and persevere so that we may become honorable, involved, and nurturing students.

Our vision is to create, develop, and maintain a safe, clean and nurturing environment for students, parents, staff and the community. Through partnerships we will produce citizens who are academically, socially and emotionally prepared to advance to the next phase of their educational development.

All volunteers who plan to attend must be registered. This includes youth. If the post indicates adults must be present, youth and adults must register using the team functionality. To learn more about our team functionality, please view our Volunteer with a Group page.

If allowed on the project, any youth volunteers under the age of 18 must bring a parent-signed youth waiver to the project.
The waiver can be found after sign up on the confirmation page or by visiting our Volunteer with Youth page.
