Better FASFA Delay

We are aware of the recent news that the U.S. Department of Education will not have final Better FASFA results until the “first half of March” to students and educational institutions.

I’m sure you’re wondering what you should do since the deadline to submit scholarship applications is Tuesday, March 5th by 5:00 pm. Here is what you need to do:

1. Complete all of the required fields in the scholarship application. We added several questions this year to the Financial Information section of the application to allow you to share more about your household and financial situation.

2. Use the ‘Statement of Financial Need’ question under the Financial Information section of the application to help give the committees a better understanding of your personal or family circumstances which make it necessary for you to seek aid for your education.

3. If you have not received your results and therefore do not know your SAI, use the Federal Student Aid Estimator tool.

4. In the FASFA Submission Summary upload section, upload a screenshot or pdf of the email you receive from the U.S. Department of Education confirming that your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) form has been received.

5. When you do receive your FASFA Submission Summary, you may email it to: scholarships@cfrichmond.org. Depending on when we receive it and where we are in our scholarship process, we will do our best to get it attached to your scholarship application(s).
