Doing Good Does You Good - Volunteer Drivers Need to Drive Our Vehicle
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation of blood to area hospitals as routine or "stat" deliveries
- Pick up and return empty boxes as needed
- Complete required transportation paperwork and obtain signatures
- Communicate and share feedback between Red Cross Biomed / Transportation personnel and customers
- Drive in a safe and responsible manner
- This is a flexible transportation / driver position. Transportation Specialists can volunteer on days that fit their schedules!
- Successful completion of American Red Cross Defensive Driving Course (within 6 months of placement)
Time Commitment: Variable; preferred commitment: 2 - 4 shifts per month. Four hours per shift.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to support the Red Cross mission
- Valid state driver's license - at least 3 years driving experience
- Familiarity with Richmond driving area and routes
- Able to verify safe driving record with state or insurance
- Experience to demonstrate reliability
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. (for hospital deliveries)
Free Training:
- Orientation to the American Red Cross (NEVO)
- Defensive Driving course
- Transportation Specialist Training
- On-the-job training
