Ancarrow's Landing Habitat Restoration

Join The James River Park System as we tackle removing invasive plants from Ancarrow's Landing. We will be focusing on removing English Ivy, Winter Creeper and other invasive plants. Be a part of this initiative to help restore The James River Park's natural habitat and tree canopy! Volunteers will be using small hand tools such as loppers and hand saws. All tools and gloves will be provided by JRPS. Please feel free to bring your favorite tool from home and a pair of gloves that you already own. Please bring water and a snack, wear closed toe shoes and dress comfortably as we will be outside for the duration of the project. Regardless of the weather, we strongly recommend wearing long sleeves and long pants to protect yourself from plants such as briars and poison ivy. Please bring your own sunscreen, bug spray, and any other items that make you more comfortable working outdoors. We look forward to working with you!

Use 2000 Brander St for GPS, but take note of the included directions: From Maury St, continue onto Brander St and cross the train tracks. Road turns slightly right and goes under the overpass. Waste Water Treatment plant will be on your right. Continue driving until road turns slightly left and crosses another set of tracks and enters park. We will meet in the larger parking lot to the left to walk to our worksite. 

All youth must email completed Youth Waiver Form to gera@jamesriverpark.org in advance of service. 

In the event of storms, this event will be canceled. The event will go on with light rain.
