Free-A-Tree at Pony Pasture
Celebrate Arbor Week: Save Pony Pasture's trees from invasive vines!
Invasive wintercreeper and English ivy threaten the survival of our parks' trees. They smother seedlings and engulf mature trees, weakening them and increasing the chance that they will come down in a storm.
You can help secure the future of Pony Pasture's trees. Volunteers will use handtools (pruners and folding handsaws) to cut vines encircling trees and then pull them from the ground to create buffers around trees.
No experience required. Work gloves and tools are provided.
VOLUNTEERS MUST:
- wear sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots,
- wear long pants that cover the ankles,
- bring a water bottle, and
- arrive on time.
Please meet next to the parking lot at the Riverside Trail trailhead (upper right corner of the parking lot).
Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:18+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
