Paint Out Pollution: Storm Drain Painting in Chesterfield County
Did you know that stormwater, or rainwater that runs off hard surfaces such as rooftops, streets and parking lots, represents the fastest growing source of pollution in the James River?
Paint Out Pollution is a project to increase awareness of stormwater pollution and celebrate the native flora and fauna that call the James River home. Richmond artists created stencils to be used to install art on storm drains. Volunteers will use the stencils to install art on storm drains at four Chesterfield County Libraries. See location details below.
Volunteers will work in teams of 2-4. We will all meet at the Chester Library at 9am, where volunteers will get a training and complete four drains. We will then move on to the next library to complete the drains and then proceed to the next library and so on. Please plan for 4-6 hours for entire event.
Libraries we're covering: Chester, Meadowdale Library (8 storm drains), LaPrade Library (4 storm drains), North Courthouse Road Library (7 storm drains).
