Swansboro Community Garden
https://m.facebook.com/SwansboroCommunityGarden/The Swansboro Community Garden’s purpose is to provide a space for the promotion of and education in urban agriculture while simultaneously developing a space for youth entrepreneurship and intergenerational community building. The census tract in which the proposed community garden is located has been identified by the USDA as a food desert. The cultivation of the Swansboro Baptist Church’s vacant lot at the corner of Crutchfield and Roanoke St in collaboration with Reveille Church will serve as a holistic approach to addressing food insecurity and limited healthy food access while also providing community members with an outdoor training center for careers in a sustainable local food system.
