Greetings RPS partners and stakeholders,
As Richmond Public Schools continues its response to COVID-19 throughout the summer, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support that has been offered to our students and families since school closure began in March. As of June 19th, more than 4,000 volunteers have delivered 1 million meals, in addition to many other vital supplies, to RPS students and families across the district - thank you!
While RPS Shines 2020 will look different from years past as a result of COVID-19, we are still asking for your support to ensure all students feel safe, loved, and cared for ahead of the 2020-2021 school year! This summer’s projects will enhance our community building efforts through continued meal and resource distribution.
RPS will continue to offer school and mobile meal distribution for our students and families throughout the summer. Beginning July 7, 12 RPS buses led by a team of two volunteers and a bus driver will deliver meals along bus routes every Monday through Friday, and 4 school-based distribution sites will also continue to operate as walk-up distribution centers. We need volunteers willing to help provide meals and other essential supplies right in the communities we serve, especially in areas with large numbers of students and families who may not have access to transportation.
