17th Street Farmers Market Beautification
17th Street Farmers Market is a public pedestrian plaza located in the Historic Shockoe Bottom of Richmond Virginia. As one of the oldest public markets in America, and possibly Virginia’s longest continuously operating Farmers Market, the 17th Street Market has been a center for commerce and connection for over 275 years. The market has 22 tree wells with the help of volunteers like you, will be filled with native locally-sourced plants. This will help promote a beautiful space for all Richmonders to experience. Your volunteer time and resources are vital to making real and marked improvements that will improve both the image and greenery of this Richmond public space.
Volunteer tasks will include soil and mulch moving, planting of select shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
Tools will be provided. Volunteers should dress for being outside the entire time and wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and bring gardening gloves. Volunteers should bring their own water/water bottles.
Carpooling is strongly encouraged--parking is limited. Volunteers must sign in and sign a waiver liability form.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 1+, Minimum Age:16+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
