Pencil Box Kits
The Caring Clothes Closet RVA, Inc. ("CCC") provides free clothing and comfort bags to people in crisis in the Metro Richmond area. The CCC's Bags 4 Kids ("BFK") Program provides comfort bags to agencies that serve kids in need. BFK and the CCC are Creating Hope through Care and Bags.
Each year the CCC through it's BFK program has a Pencil Box Progect that provides pencil boxes containing new school supplies to under-privleged kids in our area. The feedback has been amazing as the kids we serve do not have their "own" school supplies. One teacher shared with us that, "the kids' desks may be a mess but their pencil boxes are kept neat and orderly." The kids take a lot of pride in their pencil boxes.
We are looking for volunteers to help us shop for pencil boxes and school supplies for each pencil box. We will provide a list of items needed. Volunteers are also asked to create a note card with an encouraging message for each pencil box. You are welcome to create one kit or multiple kits. We estimate the cost per kit to be around $10-$12. This project provides 3 Service Hours per person not per kit. Thank you for spreading hope to kids in need. Please ask about other service projects if you are in need of additional service hours.
